Phase 4: The Bridge Onward

This final phase of the program builds upon the critical thinking skills introduced in Phase 2 and continued through Phase 3. This phase serves as a guide to best practices in professional behavior and presence in the field of interpreting. Compass is meant to aid heritage language users in identifying the type of work they are capable of and interested in.
In this phase, participants will explore their progress, make connections with their communities, and map out their next steps.

Components

Creating your professional network

Explore different ways to create opportunities to work side by side with professional interpreters in different settings and try out your skills with support. 

Identifying resources

Explore different resources to help you to reach out to key people in the interpreting profession.

Understanding and preparing for your certification exam

Everything you need to know about certification exams with links to study groups, workshops, and other resources to help you succeed!
Participants in Phase 4 should plan to commit approximately 3 hours per week during the course.
Requirements to participate
In order to participate in Phase 4, you will need reliable Internet access, access to a computer with a webcam, videocamera (phone, tablet, computer, etc.), and approximately 3 hours per week in time commitment.
