Before courses even start, participants can begin learning more about American Sign Language, interpreting, and ethical considerations that are part of the work of an interpreter. In this self-paced module, you will learn what makes ASL a language like any other, explore your bilingual nature, and find out more about the language you grew up with.

At your own pace, discover what makes an effective interpreter, learn more about yourself as a Coda interpreter, and do some practice interpreting exercises. Find out what your state requires to become an interpreter.

In this module, you will read about the ethical decision-making that interpreters face. View some scenarios, and practice thinking about what you might do in those situations. Then view the perspectives of others.
